Which Upholstery Option is Best for You?

Woodberry offers a range of products that can be made bespoke to suit your brands look. Whether you’re looking for opulent velvet chairs or wooden café chairs that match your brands colours perfectly- we have something for you!

We offer velour, fabric, and faux leather upholstery on many of our commercial dining chairs. All of our restaurant and café upholstered furniture is designed to a commercial standard. This means that the upholstery meets the mandatory CRIB5 standards and has been through the Martindale test to ensure it has a commercial grade rub count of 30,000 or more. This means that your new upholstered furniture will be long lasting through frequent use and cleaning.

All of our chairs have a Martindale count of 50,000+. This is with the exception of our Burford range chair and our Avebury range chair which have a Martindale count of 30,000+. This is reflected in the price of these products.

In this article, we’re sharing more information on each upholstery option so that you can make the right choice for your business.

Fabric Upholstered Furniture

Our fabric upholstered furniture is available in a variety of colours and patterns. This upholstery option is a great way of adding a variation of texture to your interior which will make your establishment look more interesting and feel more inviting to visitors. Our fabric-upholstered restaurant chairs are one of the more durable upholstery options. Our fabric upholstery has a stain resistant finish for easy cleaning. It is also more resilient against spills and splashes than velour fabric. Fabric upholstery is also less susceptible to scratches and tears than faux leather upholstery.

Although this option of material is incredibly durable and can bring warmth and comfort to your interior it doesn’t have the same luxurious feel as velour. Bright or patterned fabrics may also be more difficult to mix and match with other design choices you might make in the future.

Velour Upholstered Furniture

Velour fabric is offered in a range of different colours so that you can choose which is best for your establishment. If you have a sophisticated bar you may decide to go for more opulent colours. Whereas a family restaurant might decide on warmer, more traditional colours. Velour fabric is known for being soft to touch which aids in creating that ‘luxurious’ feel. The soft fabric can also aid in bringing warmth and comfort to an establishment while being more appealing for customers to sit on during the colder seasons.

While velour makes for a luxurious and comfortable upholstered commercial dining chair it does have some downfalls.

Velour is more vulnerable to wear than other commercial upholstery options. As the fabric is used overtime the colour may fade and the fabric may lose some of the softness that makes it so appealing. In addition, Velour fabric may be more susceptible to staining and gathering dirt. This upholstery option might require a little bit more maintenance than faux leather or fabric as splashes and spills show up more and it tends to be more difficult to clean.

While velour can wear quicker than other upholstery options it is still commercial grade. This means that our Velour upholstery meets the CRIB5 standards and has a rub count of 50,000+ so it will last longer than upholstery intended for domestic use.

Faux Leather Upholstered Furniture

Faux leather is an ideal choice for busy hospitality establishments as it looks great and is low maintenance. This upholstery option is one of the easier ones to clean as it doesn’t absorb liquid making it easy to wipe clean if any spills or splashes occur. While faux leather is one of the more popular upholstery choices among the hospitality sectors it has a tendency to peel and crack over time. This option may also be more susceptible to scratches and tears from bag and belt buckles. However, Woodberry’s commercial indoor furniture has been designed to last through frequent use in busy commercial settings so we offer a 1-year guarantee on our products. Our faux leather upholstery has also been through the Martindale test and has a rub count of 50,000+ making it suitable for use within commercial settings.
